Heritage Fair

An annual heritage fair is held in the Tammela yard. The purpose of the Heritage Fair is to introduce professionals and property owners to each other and to ensure that building contractors and operators working in Old Rauma are aware of the World Heritage criteria and conservation objectives. The Tammela Heritage Restoration Fair is open to, among others, partner companies and restoration professionals who have joined the register of craftsmen.

Traditional Red Paint

Traditional red paint is an exterior paint which has been used for several hundreds of years. Traditional red paint became popular with common folk in the 1800s, when more valuable buildings were already painted with oil paints.

Traditional red paint is made by cooking water, iron sulphate, fine rye or wheat flour and red pigment in a barrel. It lets moisture pass through preventing moisture from getting trapped in the timber.

In the Tammela yard, traditional red paint is made a few times a summer and it can also be bought.
