Modification drafts
In 1884, the building on Vähäpoikkikatu was being renovated. The building had two halls, two chambers, a kitchen and a hallway. Now they wanted to line the building with wide horizontal planking and at the same time raise the attic section with the same planking. The attic was also fitted with windows, which had not been there before. The windows in the living rooms, which were in poor condition, were replaced with six-paned windows. The window panelling was drawn in a classical style. A high gate is next to the building, and there is a lattice fence facing the river.
The 1886 plan shows the buildings on the property. Before the extension, there was a residential building along Vähäpoikkikikatu and an outbuilding on the eastern boundary of the plot. The dwelling was a semi-detached building with an additional end chamber at one end. On the courtyard side was a porch with a small kitchen. The plan was to build a wing along the river, with a room and a baking oven, a hall, a hallway and a front room, and an irregularly shaped room in the corner of the building. In front of the entrance was a small porch. In the old part, the ovens were located on the outer walls of the building, but in the new part they were placed in the centre of the building, according to the regulations. Both the new and the old part of the building are shown on the plan with wide horizontal planking and classical mouldings around the six-paned windows. In addition to the old log barn, the exterior of the building included a log-framed barn and a narrower-framed lean-to, as well as a boarded-up barn and shed between the log sections. The outbuilding was horizontal boarded and had slanted windows above the barn and privy doors. There were also hatches above the doors.
The modification drawing of the building, by Arvi Forsman, dates from 1905. The changes that were proposed were very typical of the period. The porch of the old part was slightly extended to make the kitchen larger. The porch of the new part was replaced by a building-height addition, creating two porches and entrances to two apartments. A baking oven in the apartment was demolished and replaced with a heating oven. In addition, a small porch was added to a separate apartment in front of the small end chamber of the old section. After the conversion, there were four apartments: two with two rooms and a kitchen, one with three rooms, a hallway and a kitchen, and one with one room. The wing of the building facing the street Vähäpoikkikatu remained a semi-detached house, but the new kitchens in the riverfront wing changed the layout.
