Fire insurances

Fire insurance was taken out by the City of Rauma in 1855. The building is said to be a wooden building, built in 1827 and boarded up in 1850. The western end was extended in 1852. The building is in good condition. It has three large rooms with a total of three tiled stoves. The building is unplanked and covered with boards. The building has two entrance porches, both with two windows and double doors lined with oil paint. There are 15 windows with spruce frames. They are oil-painted. The windows include 13 pairs of lined hatches, which are oil painted. There are also two triple-framed sash windows, one false window and six attic windows. There are five pairs of full transom mirrored doors, which are oil painted. Heating appliances include two brown-sided tiled stoves and one brick tiled stove. There are two chimneys. According to the layout plan, the porches are located exactly as they are today.

Modification drafts

There is an alteration drawing of the building from 1892. It concerns the construction of two new fireplaces in the classrooms. The building has three classrooms, one of which is accessed via a porch at the end of the building and two from a porch on the long side of the building. All the classrooms had one tiled stove, but now a second stove was installed in the two larger classrooms. The next alteration drawing dates from 1896, when the seminary took over the elementary school building. The west end classroom was converted into a workshop, and a new fireplace was built for this purpose. The east end classroom was renamed the gymnasium. By 1928, the middle classroom had been divided into a hallway, a small classroom and a teachers’ room. A fireplace was to be placed in the hallway.
