Modification drafts
A modification drawing of the building on the plot, made by E. Ikäläinen in 1897, has been preserved. Before the alteration there were two separate residential buildings on the plot, one on Vanhankirkonkatu and the other on Isopoikkikatu. In the courtyard there was a small outbuilding, apparently an old shed, with a latrine on the side. At the end of the building on Vanhankirkonkatu there was an old shed, and at the end of the building on Isopoikkikatu there was a small board shed. The building on Vanhankirkonkatu was a semi-detached house at the bottom, with a room and a hall, with a hallway and an antechamber between them. At the end of the hall was the end chamber. The second building had a large living room, a hall, a pantry and a small kitchen separated from the hall. Now it was decided to combine the two buildings, widening the wing on Vanhankirkonkatu from the courtyard side and extending the wing on Isopoikkatu. However, the extension had to be abandoned. The building had three kitchens, one of which had a baking oven. In addition to the kitchens, seven living rooms and two hallways were built. There were three entrances, all with a small porch in front. The outbuildings were demolished and a new outbuilding was built in the yard, with cattle sheds, barns and latrines. This building was given a Renaissance lining and T-pane windows. The window frames have a lily theme. The gate was also designed in the same style. In 1900, a shop door was opened in the corner of the building. In 1928, display windows were made next to the door on the Vanhankirkonkatu side to replace the two residential windows.
In 1971, the building is modified. The main building used to have two shops, one two-room apartment with kitchen, one room and one separate room. Now only one apartment with two rooms will remain in the building. The kitchen will have a modern sink and hot water heater, but the wood stove will remain. There will also be a toilet and a sauna. The studio will be attached to the second shop for storage. A small toilet will also be added to this shop, leaving the second shop without any facilities. Wood heating will be maintained throughout the house. A few years later, in 1975, another change is proposed. The rooms last converted into storage space were again converted into a room and kitchen apartment. In 1981, the rooms were combined to create one apartment, a silversmith’s workshop and a shop. The door and window of the second shop were removed and replaced by windows in the living room. The sauna inside was moved to a new location. In 1984, an old-style gate was made. In 1994 the outbuilding was repaired.
