How to reach Sammallahdenmäki
The UNESCO World Heritage Site Sammallahdenmäki is located about 20 km from the centre of Rauma, in the Lappi.
Own car
Sammallahdenmäki is easily accessible by car. The area is well signposted from VT 12, VT 8 and road 2070.
There is parking at both ends of the site. The address of the parking lot on the northern side is Sammallahdentie. The address of the southern parking lot is Savulaaksontie 181. The route to the southern car park runs through the courtyard of the Kivikylä building.
By bus
Unfortunately, there is no direct public transport to Sammallahdenmäki. The nearest bus stop is in the centre of Lapland, from where it is another 4.5 km to the southern information point. The bus stop in Lapland is passed by buses running between Rauma-Huittinen-Rauma, among others.

Ask Rauma Tourist Information for a fixed-price trip to Sammallahdenmäki. Round trip for 2-4 persons from Rauma city centre to Sammallahdenmäki and back approx. 60 € (incl. 1 h waiting time at the destination).
By bike
From the centre of Rauma, it is also relatively easy to get to Sammallahdenmäki by bicycle. Check the Rauma Region Outdoor Map (PDF) for a suggested route.
Bus services in summer 2024
There is a shuttle bus service to Sammallahdenmäki from the city centre on Thursdays at 14.00 from 27.6.-22.8.2024. There is a guided tour of the area for about 1 hour. Return to the city centre no later than 16.15. Tickets and further information from the City of Rauma online shop.
