Merimakasiini
Merimakasiini is a venue for celebrations, meetings, and exhibitions, built through volunteer efforts by the Rauma Maritime Historical Society. The society is a friends’ association of the Maritime Museum.
Merimakasiini showcases the history of local seafaring, from the harbor to the archipelago. The exhibition includes Rauma-built boats and engines donated to the museum, telling the story of coastal life over the decades. In the cabin of the schooner Ihana, visitors can sense a glimpse of life at sea during the age of sail. The scent of wood and tar evokes a bygone world!
Guided tours can be booked through the society’s volunteer guides (sihteeri@rmhs.fi) or the city’s tourist information office (matkailu@rauma.fi). Tours can be tailored for different kinds of groups.
Merimakasiini is almost fully accessible; all areas can be reached with an assistant. Catering for larger groups can be arranged upon request.
